Microneedling After Care

Everything you need to know for beautiful, lasting results after your microneedling treatment.

STEP BY STEP

Post-Treatment Instructions

First 48 Hours — Water Only

Just wash your face with water only. For optimum results, do nothing for the 2 days following treatment. This ensures no chemicals or products interfere with the healing process so skin can heal with minimal product use.

Hyaluronic & Vitamin C Serum

After the initial 48 hours, you may start using the hyaluronic/Vitamin C serum Feel The Heal provides. This will hydrate the skin and help ward off the sun, keeping hyperpigmentation from forming.

Sun Protection Protocol

Use sunscreen constantly for the first 2 weeks after microneedling. However, the first 48 hours, try to stay out of the sun entirely so you don't have to apply sunscreen products that may irritate your new skin. If you cannot avoid sun, use a thin layer. After the 48-hour window, apply sunscreen anytime you go outside. Avoid prolonged sun exposure for the first week—you'll be more prone to sun damage than usual.

Hygiene & Activity

Wash your hands before touching your face. Don't put on makeup—especially with a previously used brush—in the 48 hours following microneedling. Avoid swimming pools, saunas, and situations where you might sweat heavily, including intense workouts. After 48 hours have passed or you are no longer red or sore, you may resume these activities.
PRODUCTS & SKINCARE

What To Avoid

After microneedling, your skin is in a delicate healing phase. Avoid harsh chemicals and stick to gentle, nourishing products to support optimal recovery and results.

Avoid These

  • Any skincare product that contains harsh exfoliating chemicals
  • Anything scented or unnatural
  • Glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids

Safe To Use

  • Hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen production
  • A clean moisturizer or Egyptian Magic to hydrate the skin
  • Gentle cleanser and gentle toner for dry skin
  • Kojic acid serum (once healed) for brightening

A Note on Hyperpigmentation & Melasma

It's normal for your skin to appear darker for several days after microneedling. This temporary darkening is part of the healing process as pigment rises to the surface before naturally lifting and fading, revealing brighter, more even-toned skin.

RECOVERY TIMELINE

What To Expect

After your microneedling procedure, some side effects are completely normal. Your skin may appear flushed or red as it begins the healing process.

  • Flushed or bright red skin similar to a mild to moderate sunburn
  • Redness and swelling lasting about 24 hours or slightly longer
  • Skin may appear darker in areas of hyperpigmentation or melasma before fading
  • Some skin peeling or itching, usually resolving within 48 hours
  • Possible bumps, breakouts, or dryness (not everyone experiences these)

Important Reminder

Covering redness with makeup immediately after treatment can clog pores and slow healing. It's better to use gentle moisturizers, calming serums, or sheet masks while your skin recovers.
