What To Avoid
After microneedling, your skin is in a delicate healing phase. Avoid harsh chemicals and stick to gentle, nourishing products to support optimal recovery and results.
Avoid These
- Any skincare product that contains harsh exfoliating chemicals
- Anything scented or unnatural
- Glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids
Safe To Use
- Hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen production
- A clean moisturizer or Egyptian Magic to hydrate the skin
- Gentle cleanser and gentle toner for dry skin
- Kojic acid serum (once healed) for brightening
A Note on Hyperpigmentation & Melasma
It's normal for your skin to appear darker for several days after microneedling. This temporary darkening is part of the healing process as pigment rises to the surface before naturally lifting and fading, revealing brighter, more even-toned skin.
What To Expect
After your microneedling procedure, some side effects are completely normal. Your skin may appear flushed or red as it begins the healing process.
- Flushed or bright red skin similar to a mild to moderate sunburn
- Redness and swelling lasting about 24 hours or slightly longer
- Skin may appear darker in areas of hyperpigmentation or melasma before fading
- Some skin peeling or itching, usually resolving within 48 hours
- Possible bumps, breakouts, or dryness (not everyone experiences these)
Important Reminder
Covering redness with makeup immediately after treatment can clog pores and slow healing. It's better to use gentle moisturizers, calming serums, or sheet masks while your skin recovers.
